Six Reasons Clients Choose Pelindung
Each of these reflects something we have worked to build deliberately — not as marketing points, but as the actual character of our practice.
Qualified Legal Standing
Our principal adviser is a practising member of the Malaysian Bar with formal qualifications in employment and pension law. This matters when dealing with government pension authorities.
- Bar Council member since 2008
- Focused EPF & civil pension experience
- Professional indemnity insured
Plain Language Communication
We do not use legal jargon to obscure. Every summary, letter, and update we provide is written to be understood by the person receiving it — not to impress another lawyer.
- Written summaries after each review
- Regular progress updates
- Face-to-face discussion included
Your Pace, Not Ours
We do not apply pressure or set artificial urgency. Decisions about pension matters are significant and deserve time for reflection. We proceed only when you are ready and informed.
- No obligation after initial session
- Decisions rest with the client
- Flexible appointment scheduling
Transparent, Fixed Fees
Our fees are documented before any work begins. There are no hourly billing surprises and no charges added mid-engagement without discussion. What we quote is what you pay.
- Fixed per-service pricing
- Written scope before work starts
- No hidden administration fees
Household-Level Perspective
Retirement planning affects spouses and dependants, not just the individual. We look at the full household picture, including survivor pensions and multi-scheme coordination.
- Survivor pension documentation
- EPF & KWAP coordination
- Consolidated family records
Strict Confidentiality
Personal financial records and pension correspondence are handled with care. We comply with PDPA 2010 requirements and do not share client information with third parties.

Professional Expertise in Pension Law
Pension entitlement disputes in Malaysia require familiarity with two distinct frameworks: the EPF Act 1991 governing private sector contributions, and the Pensions Act 1980 covering civil servants. These frameworks have different authorities, different appeal channels, and different documentation standards.
Pelindung has worked exclusively in this area for over a decade. Our experience means we understand how the relevant authorities process appeals, what documentation is required, and how to present a case in a way that is taken seriously.
A Methodical, Well-Organised Process
Each engagement at Pelindung follows a clear structure. We begin with an assessment of the available documentation, then prepare a written position summary before any correspondence with an authority. Updates are sent at each stage so you are never left uncertain about where the matter stands.
This orderliness is not just a procedural preference. It reflects a belief that clients handling retirement matters deserve to feel that their case is being managed — not merely processed.
Service Built Around the Individual
Every case is different. The circumstances that led someone to seek a pension review — a denied claim, a discovered shortfall, an unexpected retirement — shape what kind of assistance is most useful. We do not apply a fixed script to every client.
Our approach involves listening carefully before advising. We ask questions to understand the full picture, and then explain clearly what we have found and what the options are.
Fair Value for Clearly Defined Work
Our fees begin at RM 580 for an entitlement walkthrough and RM 1,240 for a claim review and appeal. These are complete fees, not deposits. You know from the first conversation what a service will cost and what it will deliver.
We chose fixed-fee pricing deliberately. Hourly billing creates uncertainty for clients and misaligns incentives. A flat fee means our interest is in resolving your matter efficiently and thoroughly.
A Record of Cases Handled with Care
Over eleven years we have assisted more than 860 individuals and households with pension and EPF matters in Penang, Kedah, and Perak. Cases have ranged from straightforward entitlement queries to multi-year appeal proceedings involving both public and private pension schemes.
We do not share specific case outcomes, but we can say that the majority of clients who came to us uncertain about their entitlements left with a clearer picture — and many with a resolved position.
How We Compare
Pelindung vs Typical Approaches
Many people attempt to navigate pension matters alone, or with generalist advisers who lack specific experience in this area. Here is how the approaches differ.
| Consideration | Typical Approach | With Pelindung |
|---|---|---|
| Pension law qualification | Often unspecialised | Bar-qualified, pension-focused |
| Written summary after review | Rarely included | Included in every service |
| Fixed, stated fees | Hourly or unclear | Fixed per engagement |
| Survivor pension support | Often overlooked | Included in full plan |
| Authority correspondence handled | Client manages alone | Handled on your behalf |
| Regular written progress updates | Inconsistent | At every stage |
What Sets Us Apart
Distinctly Our Own
Both Schemes, One Engagement
Most advisers handle either EPF or civil pension — not both. Our complete retirement protection plan is one of the few services in Penang that addresses both EPF (KWSP) and public pension (KWAP) within a single, coordinated engagement.
Written Record Prepared for Dependants
As part of our full plan, we prepare a consolidated record of entitlements and documentation that families can refer to after the primary retiree is no longer able to manage these matters. This is a practical safeguard that is rarely offered elsewhere.
Eleven Years of Northern Malaysia Focus
Our practice has been based in Penang since 2014. We have built relationships with local pension authorities over many years and understand the regional context — including how matters are typically handled at the Penang EPF office and the relevant civil service branches.
No Work Without a Written Scope
Before we begin any paid work, we document exactly what we will do, how long it will take, and what it costs. You sign off on this before anything proceeds. There are no verbal-only arrangements and no scope creep without your agreement.
